Family Fun On A Dime

Welcome to your source for saving when dining out!

Weather you are looking for a quick snack at a fast food joint or you are taking your family out for dinner, there are plenty of ways to save!  Many places offer free or reduced kids meals on various nights of the week.  Some offer military discounts while other offer different kinds of discounts such as a percentage off when you bring in your church bulletin.

**Please remember while browsing the list that not all locations of the chains participate in these programs or may have a different variation of them.  Also, establishments often change their policies regarding discounts, so call or check with them.

Other ways of saving money when dining out are:
-Purchase discount cards.  I usually pay between $10 & $20 for them.  They are usually sold as fundraisers by schools, bands, sports teams, etc and are good for a year.  They have many different offers on them and not just restaurants.  One of our favorites is the Papa John's Buy one pizza, get one free.
-Check restaurant's Facebook page for discounts.  Restaurants often have limited time offers for their Facebook Fans.
-Sign up for birthday clubs.  Lots of places give you something for free on your birthday if you sign up for their mailing list.
-Coupon inserts in your "junk mail".  Seems like an easy idea, right?  You would be surprised how many people don't bother to look through them.  There are almost always coupons for Steak & Shake, various pizza places, and sometimes coupons for Arbys, McDonalds, and Wendy's.
-Military Appreciation Days & Veteran's Day Discounts.  Obviously, this will only work for military.  Many restaurants offer free or reduced fare on their Military Appreciation Day as well as Veteran's Day.  Some examples of past deals include: Free Bloomin' Onion at Outback, Free 6" sub at Subway, and 50% off at Marco's Pizza just to name a few.
-Check Restaurant.Com.  This web site offers discounts on a variety of food all around the country.  You can purchase a certificate for food and/or drink at a fraction of the price.  I recently bought a $25 certificate for $2.  Yes.  You read that right.  I paid $2 for a $25 certificate.  The way it works is you usually have to spend $35 to be able to use your certificate, but in reality, you are getting $35 of merchandise for less than 1/2 the price.  Many of the restaurants featured are smaller Mom & Pop type places, so don't expect to see many larger chains featured.

Please remember when eating at a sit down restaurant to tip on the total BEFORE THE DISCOUNT!  You may not realize it, but servers do not make the typical minimum wage.  They make a reduced minimum wage due to the tips they get.  In some places a server's minimum wage is as low as $2.13/hour.  These men and women mostly rely on tips to make their money, so please be courteous and tip the proper amount.
